History

The first Gownboy Dinner was held on Monday 5th July 1897 at the Café Royal, Regent Street when 17 Gownboys enjoyed an 11 course dinner and has continued on an annual basis ever since although the venue has changed.

In 1935 members decided to form a Fund, now known as The Gownboy Fund, by means of contributions from Old Gownboys in order to enable financial assistance to be given for educational purposes. Over a number of years the Fund has provided help to pupils in the House, whose parents find themselves through no fault of their own in financial difficulties, to allow them to complete their education.
